Reviews
We just ordered delivery from Indian Groceries tonight and it was very good. The butter chicken was particularly delicious with tender chicken breast throughout the creamy, flavourful sauce. Overall, fabulous flavour in all 4 dishes we ordered and not over-the-top-spicy (for my palate). The various breads were so good, too! Highly recommend!
My go-to place for 25yrs or so - for Indian sweets, snacks and spices. I am giving 5 stars for their takeout dishes, specifically for the non-veg ones. Flavourful with the right amount of spices and not overly salty. I stick to the rice with the dishes as the naans provided are commercial ones. I am guessing that the traditional naans require a specific oven and with that, special I insurance also. I recommend everything in the non-veg menu, specially the butter chicken and anything with goat or mutton.
Everything is pricey here...selling a 3l sunflower oil with "no name" mentioned Brand for $24.99 which is only 16.99 when checked in the "no(name) fr***" online website....but we'll find every essential things in one shop...many items are very pricey n few are on affordable end....
I called the store just before Diwali from Toronto area to see if they would deliver sweets to my son who is a third year medical student at Dalhousie. They were very helpful in accommodating my request and made my son’s Diwali special. I highly recommend them.
What a pleasant discovery! We love cooking Indian Cuisine at home, but often have difficulty finding certain spices and ingredients. My husband was born and raised in the UK, so some of his favourite curries are hard to come by too. We were both so pleased to see many familiar things in one place! I was blown away at some of the low pricing (cardamom pods, some of the branded chutneys and spice mixes) but some items were unmarked with pricing which was a bit tricky. I was also excited to see a fridge full of freshly prepared Indian sweets, but was deterred as it was self-serve. I will look forward to trying them another time. An excellent variety of products in the store, between fresh and frozen produce, non-perishable items, prepared foods (both fresh and frozen) and endless teas, mixes and spices. They also sell some hot and ready samosas at the front counter which is such a sneaky but extremely successful tactic!! We left with a pretty good load of goodies and can't wait to dig into them this week. Also, if you go for nothing else, you need to try their Samosas. We couldn't help but buy one at the counter and it didn't even make it home. Really light and crispy pastry and the most delicious mix of spices inside. We will be back!!
The Indian grocery shop is undeniably impressive, offering products from all over India. To enhance the experience, it could be even more welcoming by treating its customers with even greater politeness and respect.
From North to South, the store covers whole Indian groceries, the staff are very nice and helpful. Very reasonable prices. They also have takeaway snacks and meals which taste just like one you get in India. They accept cash and cards.
Definitely your go to Indian store in Halifax.
Small private owned store. It doesn't have the organizatios and service as the big stores, so you just go there get what you want and leave. They sell food (hot meals), but they're not cheap as before. I have no idea where or how they prepare the food; we just pick it up in the store after ordering. And whether you order spicy or mild, the food is hot.
